The brackets, tubes and wires tend to make a little shelf around the outside of the teeth. This shelf makes it harder for your toothbrush to clean the spaces between your gums and hardware. However, careful brushing of the teeth is the only way to avoid decay and gum infection during the treatment.
| Possible Problems |
| Decay & Gum infection : | Cavities and puffy gums result from poor brushing. |
| Bad Breath : | Can be caused from dirty hard ware and swollen gum. |
| Plaque : | Calcium in saliva and food particles make up plaque and living bacteria. |
| How to Brush |

|
In addition to toothbrush, interdental brush, dental floss, and toothpaste with fluoride are effective tools for proper brushing. Remember, the better patient you are, the faster we will be through, and the better your results will be.
