For Patients with Separations

Today, we will prepare for the first stage of your orthodontic treatment.
| What? | Small rubber band called "separation (spacer)" will be placed between the teeth. | |
| Why? | In order to place a metal appliance called "band", there must be small spaces created between the molar and molars on both sides. | |
| And? | On the day separations have been set, patient may experience discomfort or pain at night. The level of discomfort depends on the patient, but don't worry, it will disappear in about three days. | |
| So? | For pain and discomfort relief, please try rinsing with warm salt water, massaging the gum with fingers, or chewing more often. This will improve blood circulation and reduce discomfort and pain. If none of the above works and you can no longer bear with the pain, you may take your regular pain killer pills only once or twice. |
